In 1949, it joined with Dalian University and the name was changed into the Medical College of Dalian University. In 1950, the organizational system of Dalian University was cancelled and since then Dalian Medial College had become an independent college. In 1969, the college moved to Zunyi, a city of Guizhou Province, to establish the Zunyi Medical College. And in 1978, the college moved back to its original location in Dalian, still with the name of Dalian Medical College. In 1994, approved by the State Education Commission (SEC), DMU adopted its present name. COLLEGE OF PUBLIC HEALTH, ZHENGZHOU UNIVERSITY formerly named as the Department of Public Health of the Medical school, Henan University which was established in 1928. After the separation of the Medical school from the Henan University in 1956, the former Medical school became the Henan Medical College, and the Department of Public Health was changed as Division of Public Health, and then the Division was upgraded and renamed as College of Public Health while the Henan Medical College was renamed as the Henan Medical University in 1984. The college now belongs to the new Zhengzhou University by merging of the previous Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou Industrial University, and Henan Medical University in 2000. The College of Public Health is the only academic school for training qualified scientists and professionals in the field of public health and preventive medicine in Henan province.    Currently, there are 9 departments, three divisions, one teaching experimental center, two research institutes and one research center in the college.
